Government must extend machine learning support across education and industry

Machine learning algorithms lack common sense, have limited understanding of human intentions and seem incapable of transferring knowledge from one domain to an entirely different problem area. These are among the findings of new policy research from a Royal Society special interest group, looking at the application of machine learning, barriers to progress and the public's perception of the technique.
